As American as Apple Pie

I wonder how the United States will look in the next twenty to thirty years.

For decades, the United States government has been implementing policies and practices that institutionally violate human rights in various ways. It is quite astonishing how the United States has become extremely militarized and monitored at the expense of civil liberties, ever since the passage of the Patriot Act during the Bush Administration. Some of the negative policies and practices implemented during President Bush’s terms, seem to be identical to some of Obama’s practices. But then again… When you consider that this is all a systematic game, and when you consider that Bush and Obama are cousins, then it actually makes sense…

Many citizens are unaware of the FBI’s peculiar method of ensuring that the United States is secure from future “terrorist” incidents. The FBI has developed a network of nearly 15,000 spies to infiltrate various communities in an attempt to uncover “terrorist” plots. However, these spies are actually assisting and encouraging people to commit crimes. Many informants receive cash rewards of up to $100,000 per case…

In January of 2006, 61-year-old John Adams, was shot to death in front of his wife, by police who invaded his house after receiving intel of drug trafficking. Adams was allegedly watching television when his wife heard pounding on the door. Police claim to have identified themselves and wore police jackets as well. However, Johns’s wife, Loraine Adams said she and her husband had no indication the men were police.

Loraine stated that she “…thought it was a home invasion. I said ‘Baby, get your gun!'”

Though the perpetrator fired arms in an attempt to defend himself, he was killed by the officers, who later “discovered” they had the wrong house after tirelessly searching for narcotics to no avail. The officers eventually “…admitted their mistake, saying faulty information from a drug informant contributed to the death of John Adams…They intended to raid the home next door.”

John Adams is a prime example of the problematic policing that is currently happening within communities on a grand scale. Not to mention, an Afrikan American is killed every 36 hours; casualties that are predominately committed by police officers in underprivileged communities of color across the country. But I digress because I could go on for days about that issue…

Meanwhile, in 2012 the National Defense Authorization Act was passed allowing the United States military to detain any U.S. citizen labeled as a” terrorist”, or a perpetrator of terrorism indefinitely without trial. It seems this act had recently flexed its muscles against the suspects in the Boston Marathon incident.

Interestingly…

United States Secretary, Hilary Clinton, recently admitted that the United States, Britain, France, and some conservative Arab allies have funded and armed the Syrian rebellion from its start in 2011. Furthermore, the United States has been funding groups against Bashar al-Assad since the mid-1990’s.

I just find it interesting that the anti-Assad ranks include members of al-Qaeda, Hamas, and other groups that the United States has listed as “terrorist” organizations. Hmm…

President Obama was also rather busy giving out autographs in his first term…

President Obama’s signature on the National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order permits the widespread federal and military control of the national resources and economy during “emergency and non-emergency conditions.” The question then becomes… What are these emergency and non-emergency conditions they are referring to?

President Obama also signed into law HR 347, the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011. This law specifies the acts of entering or remaining in a “restricted” area as criminal offenses. Many have debated to what extent the law restricts First Amendment rights. But I know for sure, that this law makes it easier for the Secret Service to overuse or mishandle preexisting laws to detain lawful protesters and other citizens by diminishing the requirement of intent in the prosecution of criminal activity; thus, making resistance to the forthcoming oppression that much more difficult …

On another note…

Education in the United States has also taken a drastic turn since the Bush Administration with, what American Lecturer Alfie Kohn terms, the “Many Child Left Behind Act” and the others that followed. Public education is the target of an institutionalized, well-funded campaign to privatize as many schools as possible, particularly in inner-cities that are predominately populated with poor people of color. This campaign argues that it wants great teachers in every classroom. However, teachers are essentially demoralized, the quality of education is abandoned, the status of the education profession is reduced, standardized tests that perpetuate racial/cultural and social inequality are heavily implemented, and charter schools, which are publicly funded and controlled by private corporations are being initiated at a rapid rate. The only logical rationale for such reform is economic, political, social and psychological control.

In April 2012, U.S. student loan debt topped one trillion dollars (Dr. Evil Voice), more than credit card debt. Thats just ridiculous… Seriously think about it… That’s fucking ridiculous…

Although mainstream corporate media reported this milestone, they underplayed its social and political significance. Student loan debt is the only form of consumer loan debt that has increased substantially since 2008. The threat of massive student loan debt, requiring another taxpayer bailout, has systemic risks as serious as the bank “failures” that brought the U.S. economy to the brink of another collapse in 2008. Astonishingly, if all students were to get a decent paying job, their funds would be funneled back into paying for the massive debt caused by student loans, as opposed to benefiting the economy as a whole… But the big banks and corporations will continue to profit nonetheless…

Coupled with the horrid state of education is the rapid increase of the Prison Industrial Complex.

According to sources at Project Censored, the rapid “…rise of corporate-backed charter schools and privatized prisons cannot be understood apart from the record closures of public schools across the country.”

The United States comprises less than 5 percent of the world’s population, yet U.S. prisons hold more than 25 percent of all people who are incarcerated globally; a majority of which are people of color (specifically Afrikan American males). Many of these prisoners labor at twenty-three cents per hour, or similar wages, in federal prisons contracted by the Bureau of Prisons’ UNICOR, a quasi-public, for-profit corporation, which is the U.S. government’s 39th largest contractor. As incarceration rates increase exponentially in the U.S., thousands are placed in solitary confinement, often for having committed minor disciplinary infractions within the prison walls…

The curtailing of human rights by the government in a militaristic fashion, the dissolving of education, the increase in incarceration and abuse, the excessive monetary exploitation benefitting the privileged few at the expense of disadvantaged groups of people, and people of color…

All of this sounds similar to… Well.. Colonial Slavery perhaps? It’s like it never left…

In fact it never left…

Enslavement is as Amerikkkan as Apple Pie…

But that’s just me…
